About

A "Talk Like a Pirate Day" Special Game

"I'm here to plunder and drink rum. And I'm all out of rum."

Gather up a questionable crew. Steal a ship. Chase fortune. Then see how long you can survive before the sea, or something beneath it, claims yer soul.

Man yer ship. Recruit some crew. Raid, pillage, plunder, and otherwise pilfer your weasley black guts out. Get a bigger ship. Kill some things. Sneak into a fort. Raid a port. Acquire treasure. Bury said treasure. Become infamous. Search for someone else’s treasure. Flee in terror from unfathomable creatures from the deep. Drink all of the rum. Die on the high seas.

  • Game System: Pirate Borg

  • Experience Level: 🟩 None: No experience necessary. We love teaching!

Explores the Dark Caribbean of haunted islands, skeleton brutes, cursed vessels, and supernatural entities.

Pirate Borg is a rules-light, grimy pirate fantasy tabletop RPG built on the fast and deadly framework of MÖRK BORG. Players take on the roles of cutthroats, scoundrels, doomed sailors exploring a Caribbean-inspired world filled with undead, sea monsters, cursed treasure, rival pirates, and supernatural horrors. The game embraces a dark, over-the-top tone where black powder, rum, blood, magic, and bad decisions are all part of everyday life. Combat is quick and dangerous, characters can die spectacularly, and the rules encourage players to solve problems creatively rather than relying entirely on their character sheets. Ship travel and naval combat play a major role, allowing crews to acquire vessels, battle enemy ships, hunt treasure, and explore mysterious islands. The setting mixes the Golden Age of Piracy with folk horror, Lovecraftian weirdness, voodoo-inspired occult fantasy, and heavy-metal aesthetics.

"An immersive tabletop gaming experience like no other!"

The Ghostlight waits for no soul.
The Ghostlight waits for no soul.

As Grande Founder of Mythic Hall, Shawn Porter is a Game Master, ghost hunter, tech geek, artist, writer, actor, builder - a creative renaissance man. In short, I enjoy making things. Creative things. Immersive things. Things like... Mythic Hall.

"My favorite part of D&D is creating - buildings, terrain and minis. You can generally expect some over-the-top table designs."

At the table, I enjoy heavy roleplay, voices (when I can remember what accent the character had) and, most times, a darker tone. And not just in the abundance of black t-shirts I own, but in game story. I pride myself in creating as immersive an experience. Between creating the tone of the room, table setting, buildings, terrain and minis, I love being 'in the moment' as much as humanly possible.

Game Details

  • Characters will be rolled for at the table. In Pirate Borg, characters are made based on rolls at the table. Nothing is preset.

  • Ticket is for 1 session on the date/time listed above.

What should I bring?

  • One set of dice (though a hoard is never frowned upon)

  • Note-taking supplies (pencil or pen and notebook or paper)
